Recognising that women often find it harder to plumb their comedy depths particularly when called upon to speak in public, Funny Women is launching a series of comedy workshops to bring out the funny in the fairer sex. Led by experienced trainers and performers including Viv Gee, Janice Connolly, Sarah Millican. * * * Birds Eye View Films 5.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. Short funny films by women, shown daily. Birds Eye View is a creative platform for women filmmakers. “An important celebration of women filmmakers” – The Independent * * * “The Guid Sisters” by Michel Tremblay 6.15 p.m. – 7.45 p.m. One play, fifteen female stand-ups – comedy, drama, Green Shield stamps and...Bingo! Theatrical, moving and fabulously funny, Michel Tremblay’s love–letter to women everywhere. “Run it until the bus parties stop rolling” – Observer ***** * * * Funny Women at the Fringe 8.30 p.m. – 9.30 p.m. The best all female line-up at the Fest joins in the spirit of the Free Festival presenting a different stand up show every night featuring the hottest new talent from five fabulous years of the Funny Women Awards and established acts. “The class of 2007 is probably the best yet uncovered.” – Chortle OUR BENEFICIARY CHARITY In memory of the late Linda Smith, Funny Women is once again supporting Ovarian cancer action, at this year‘s Fringe, which funds research into ovarian cancer, raises awareness of the disease and gives a voice to women affected by it. Instead of a collection, visitors are asked to donate just £3 by texting the word ‘FUN’ to 84858. Everybody making a donation will be entered into a prize draw for a luxurious spa weekend at the Inter–Continental Hotel in London.
